La Axarquía

La Axarquía, the home of the European mango

Our mangos come from Velez Málaga, the capital of the region of La Axarquía located in the south of Spain, the region which is known internationally as the Costa del Sol. This region rises from the eastern watershed and it is considered one of the most favourable areas in Europe for the cultivation of tropical fruit.

With over 300 days of sun a year and day-time temperatures of 25ºC to 30ºC in summer and 14ºC in winter, this location offers an excellent subtropical climate that favours the agricultural production of not only mangos but also avocados, cherimoyas and kiwis as well.

The charm of La Axarquía comes from it being a region filled with contrasts from high mountains to stunning maritime landscapes of untouched beaches that make this a privileged region, not only for its climate but also for its rich geography. Only covering 1,000 km², La Axarquía has a bit of everything: beaches with crystal clear waters, secluded coves, cliffs, incredible landscapes, wetlands, rivers and hills with indescribable beauty. There are white villages nestled in the mountains that preserve an authentic Moorish feel with their winding and steep streets that are guarded by whitewashed houses whose walls reflect the light of the sun.

It is here in this unique and incomparable area right here in Europe that we cultivate our mangos naturally, allowing you to take home these fruits without middlemen, straight from the tree to your kitchen.
